Ferris State Basketball Squads Host West Michigan Rivals This Week In GLIAC Play
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads close out a four-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) homestand with a pair of doubleheaders versus West Michigan foes Grand Valley State and Davenport this week inside Jim Wink Arena.
Both Ferris State squads are currently listed among the nation's top 30 teams overall with the FSU men fifth this week in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) D2 Top 25 Rankings and the women just outside the top 25 at 27th in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) D2 Top poll.
Ferris State will host Grand Valley State for "Rivalry Night" on Thursday (Jan. 9) with the women set to tip against the top-ranked Lakers at 5:30 p.m. (ET) followed by the men's game at approximately 7:30 p.m. (ET).
FSU then hosts Davenport on Saturday (Jan. 11) for a "Banner Day" tilt beginning at 1 p.m. (ET) for the women and 3 p.m. (ET) for the men. FSU will recognize last season's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championship squads with new D2 Elite Eight banners slated to be unveiled as part of the day's events.
Presently, the Bulldog men's squad is off to a 14-1 overall start this year, which ranks tied for the best start in program history. FSU is also 4-0 in GLIAC play. The women's squad holds a 10-3 mark and is also 4-0 in conference play.
Both doubleheaders will be carried live on Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network with pregame coverage beginning a half-hour prior to the women's contest. An online audio stream is available at FerrisStateBulldogs.com and both games will be streamed on a pay-per-view basis on FloSports.
