Ferris State Basketball To Hold Elite Eight Banner Ceremony This Saturday Afternoon During Home Doubleheader

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball programs will celebrate last season's regional championship finishes with a special "Elite Eight" Banner Ceremony this Saturday (Jan. 11) during FSU's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home doubleheader versus Davenport.

The Bulldogs will recognize last season's first-ever women's basketball Elite Eight finish prior to the opening tipoff of the 1 p.m. (ET) opener against the Panthers. Meanwhile, FSU will then celebrate the men's trip to the D2 Elite Eight and Midwest Regional Championship just before the second game of the twin bill, which is slated for a 3 p.m. (ET) tip. A brief presentation will take place with the lights dimmed to spotlight new championship banners installed in the facility highlighting each team's success.

Both Ferris State teams won the Midwest Regional Championship a year ago en route to the D2 Eight Eight, marking the first time in school history in which both squads had claimed the regional crown in the same year. The women went on to reach the national semifinals for the first time in program history while the men's team also claimed the GLIAC Tournament Championship during a memorable campaign.

Along with the Banner Ceremony, the Bulldog men's basketball program, in conjunction with the Rebounders Club, will also host a post-game meal for all club members following the conclusion of the game. The postgame meal, which is sponsored by Two Hats Ranch, will be held in Room 1038 or Gold Room A & B in the Center for Athletics Performance located inside the Ewigleben Sports Complex.

Both Ferris State squads are off to strong starts this season with the men currently ranked among the nation's top five teams with a 14-1 overall record. The women's squad is 10-3 overall and listed among the nation's top 30 programs.

Prior to Saturday afternoon's home tilt against Davenport, both Bulldog Basketball squads will first host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State for a "Rivalry Night" doubleheader on Thursday (Jan. 9) starting at 5;30 p.m. (ET) for the women and 7:30 p.m. (ET) for the men.
