Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf program has the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) top performer this year as Bulldog junior Ben Cook (Caledonia/Grand Rapids South Christian) landed the 2015 GLIAC "Men's Golfer of the Year" honor in an announcement made Thursday by the league office.

Cook has has had his best season on the collegiate level to date for the Bulldogs in the 2014-15 campaign. The three-year letterwinner has placed among the top 10 performers in tournament action in nine of FSU's 11 competitions this season, including five of six outings this spring.

This year, Cook twice has earned medalist honors in tournament action and also claimed runner-up laurels on two other occassions. Overall, the FSU standout has recorded eight top-five finishes in the 2014-15 campaign. His performance has the Bulldogs on the brink of receiving their 13th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Along with earning the GLIAC Golfer of the Year honor, Cook was also among seven individuals from across the conference named to the All-GLIAC First Team. He claimed all-league laurels for the first time in his collegiate career.

In addition to Cook, Grand Valley State's Domenic Mancinelli earned the GLIAC Freshman of the Year award with Tiffin head coach Darby Roggow tabbed as the GLIAC Coach of the Year. A total of 18 individudals claimed all-conference recognition as either first, second or honorable mention team picks.

All-GLIAC Men's Golf selections are based upon a player's stroke average in their selected best rounds in league competition, including the three rounds of the GLIAC Tournament.

By earning the league's top honor, Cook became the first FSU golfer to receive the GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Year honor since former standout Eric Lilleboe in 2009-10. Lilleboe, who also earned the distinction in 2007-08, and Cook are the only two Bulldogs to have received the honor since prior to the 2000-01 campaign.

The official selections for the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships will be announced on Friday (April 24) in a late afternoon press announcement at NCAA.com.
