Ferris State Men's Golf Duo Earns All-Conference Recognition
Big Rapids, Mich. - A pair of Ferris State University men's golf standouts have been recognized as 2020 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honorees as announced today by the conference office.
Bulldog sophomore Thomas Hursey (Suttons Bay) was chosen to the All-GLIAC Second Team with freshman Nathan Kraynyk (Buffalo Point, Manitoba) tabbed to the GLIAC Honorable Metnion squad.
The teams were compiled by the league office and member head coaches. The awards were determined based off results from the 2019 fall season and the begining of the spring campaign.
This year, Hursey placed among the top 10 golfers individually in five tournaments, including each of his final four outings of the year. He earned medalist honors at the Saddlebrook Spring Invitational held in Florida in early March in FSU's only competition of the spring prior to the cancellation of the rest of the season. Last year, Hursey was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year and an honorable mention all-conference choice.
Meanwhile, Kraynyk finished in the top 10 a total of four times this year and earned runner-up honors while competing as an individual at Saddlebrook. He also tied for fourth overall in the GLIAC North Invitational held last fall on FSU's home course at Katke Golf Course along with placing fourth with a three-under par 69 at the Hawkshead Links Invitational.
Earlier this season, both Hursey and Kraynyk earned all-tournament team honors as they finished tied for sixth overall in the Northwood Invitational held in October in Midland, leading FSU to a fourth-place team finish.
This campaign, the Bulldog men's golf team placed among the top top five teams in five tournaments, including winning the Saddlebrook Spring Invitational and finishing as the runner-up in both the GLIAC North Invitational and the Hawkshead Links Invite.
