Bulldog Men's Golf Starts Spring Season Strong In Day One At The Music City Invitational

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team started its 2021 campaign in strong fashion on Monday (March 15) as the Bulldogs are currently tied for fourth place overall following the opening round at the Music City Invitational in Old Hickory, Tenn.

The Bulldogs carded a 294 team score and are presently +6 overall following the first 18 holes of action at the Hermitage Golf Course General's Retreat in the event hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University.

Ferris State's 294 total is only seven shots off the lead, which is currently held by Northwood with a 287 score (-1). Host Trevecca Nazarene is second (290) and Ashland third (291) with FSU tied for fourth along with Grand Valley State in the 17-team field.

The Bulldogs were led by Thomas Hursey, who shot a one-under par 71 and is tied for seventh in the field. Both Nathan Kraynyk and Trent Barth posted scores of 74 (+2) and are tied for 23rd overall. FSU's Mitchell Geik shot a 75 (+3) and is tied for 31st with Daniel Shattuck carding a 78 (+6), good for a share of 64th overall.

The individual leader, Trevecca Nazarene's Blain Turner, carded a five-under par 67 score.

Action wraps up in the event on Tuesday (March 16) in the Nashville area. The competition is the first of the year for the Bulldogs.
