Strong Start For Men's Golf As Bulldogs Sit Third In Large Field At SVSU Spring Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team shot a 292 team score in Saturday's (March 20) first round of the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitational and is currently tied for third in the field heading Into the final round.

The Bulldogs' carded a +4 effort in the first 18 holes of action on Saturday and are only three shots off the lead going into Sunday's final round. The event is being held at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky.

Overall, Grand Valley State posted the best score in day one action with a 289 (+1) total with Hillsdale second (291) followed by a three-way tie between FSU, SVSU and Tiffin.

The large field includes a total of 21 schools.

The Bulldogs' Thomas Hursey shot a four-under 68 score for the best round of the day individually and sits atop the leaderboard going into the final round. 

Meanwhile, FSU's Nathan Kraynyk also had a strong day and posted a two-under 70 total and is tied for third in the field.

Ferris State's Adam Madzri placed tied for 30th with a 75 while Daniel Shattuck fired a 79 and is tied for 68th overall. Finally, Trent Barth shot an 86 and sits tied for 109th entering the final round.

The Bulldogs will hit the tee again on Sunday (March 21) for the final round at 9:50 a.m. (ET).
