Ferris State Men's Golf Finishes Third As Hursey Wins Second-Straight Medalist Honor

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team posted its second consecutive third-place team finish and FSU standout Thomas Hursey (Suttons Bay) claimed individual medalist honors for the second time in a row as play wrapped up on Saturday (April 10) at the Bill Blazer Memorial in Pickerington, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a two-round 584 team score at Turnberry Golf Course, finishing only nine strokes behind team champion and host Ohio Dominican, which carded a 575 figure. Malone took second place at 577.

Hursey tied for first overall in regulation with a 137 score on rounds of 68 Friday and 69 on Saturday. He eventually won a playoff for medalist honors on the fourth hole, topping Malone's Connor Curry.

Behind Hursey, FSU's Adam Madzri finished tied for ninth in the field with a 146 total, shooting a 68 on Saturday after opening the event with a 78 in round one.

FSU's Trent Barth placed tied for 19th overall at 150 as he followed up his 77 on day one with a 73 in the final round.

Meanwhile, Nathan Kraynyk finished 23rd overall for the Bulldogs with a 151 total on rounds of 76 and 75 while Josh Jeffords placed tied for 30th. He notched a 155 figure, carding a 75 in the final round after an opening round mark of 80.

The Bulldogs will next take part in the GLIAC Championships set for April 16-18 in Augusta, Mich.
