Big Rapids, Mich. - For the 17th time in the last 18 tries, the Ferris State University men's golf team has received an official NCAA Tournament bid and will take part in the 2021 Midwest/Central Super Regional, which will take place May 6-8 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo.

The announcement of 64 teams and 24 individual student-athletes for regional competition was released Friday (April 23) by the NCAA-II Men's Golf Selection Committee.

This past week, the Bulldogs captured their 21st Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship as they beat rival Grand Valley State in head-to-head finals action at the league event.

The Midwest/Central Regional will be hosted by William Jewell College and will consist of eight teams from the Midwest Region along with eight from the Central Region. Three individuals from each region will also compete in the 54-hole tournament.

At a minimum, the top four teams from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the 2021 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships slated for May 17-21 at PGA National Resort's The Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The finals will be hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. For the 2021 championships, the Midwest/Central Super Regional will be allocated four berths into the D2 National Championships.

Along with Ferris State, those teams from the Midwest Region who will be making the super regional tourney appearance are top-seeded Indianapolis followed by Grand Valley State, Findlay, Maryville (Mo.), Hillsdale, Missouri-St. Louis and Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) in front of FSU in respective seeding order.

Meanwhile, Central Missouri is the Central Region's top seed and followed by Arkansas Tech, Henderson State (Ark.), Washburn (Kan.), Missouri Western State, Southwest Oklahoma State, Sioux Falls (S.D.) and Winona State (Minn.).

Four years ago, in 2017, the Bulldogs earned runner-up honors in the 2017 NCAA-II Midwest/Central Super Regional in Kearney, Neb., before going on to a national quarterfinal finish.

Three years ago, FSU golfer Andrew Hammett was an individual qualifer for the 2018 NCAA Super Regional Championships. In 2019, the Bulldogs placed tied for third at the super regional and reached the NCAA D2 National Championships, placing 20th overall before the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled last year's event.

This year makes this the 18th-straight year in which the Bulldogs have had representation in the NCAA Tournament when it has been held. The 18-year streak of NCAA Championship representation in men's golf ranks as one of the longest active stretches in the country.
