Ferris State Men's Golf Only Six Shots Off The Lead After Day One At Bill Blazer Memorial

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team carded a 301 team score on Saturday (April 9) in the first round of the Bill Blazer Memorial and sits only six shots off the lead heading into the second round in Urbana, Ohio.

The Bulldogs finished the opening round on the par 72 course at +13 on Saturday in the event held at the Urbana Country Club, which measures 6,849 yards.

Overall, Davenport and Southern Indiana posted the opening round's low score at 295 with Grand Valley State and Wayne State both tied for third overall at 297 followed by FSU's 301 in the 16-team field.

Ferris State had three golfers rank among the top 20 individually in the first round as the trio of Thomas Hursey, Zach Koerner and Shayne Beaufait all posted identical scores of 75 and are tied for 17th going into Sunday's second round.

Meanwhile, Nathan Kraynyk shot a 76 and is tied for 27th overall with Joshua Jeffords tied for 49th after notching an 80 in round one.

The final day of play is set for Sunday at the Urbana Country Club.
