Ferris State Men's Golf Opens Action At Doc Spragg Invite In Ohio

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team opened competition at the annual Doc Spragg Fall Invitational hosted by the University of Findlay on Monday (Sept. 19) as the first two rounds took place in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs shot a two-round 580 figure in the opening 36 holes of action on Monday at the par 72 Findlay Country Club and sit 10th in the field at +4 overall for the day. FSU shot a 293 in round one before coming back with a one-under par 287 in the second round.

Overall, Grand Valley State holds the day one lead with a 559 total (-17) followed by Missouri-St. Louis and Wayne State, which are both tied for second among the 17 competing teams at 560 (-16).

Presently, Ferris State's Nathan Kraynyk sits tied for sixth individually as he carded a four-under par 68 in round one followed by a one-under 71 for a 139 total.

FSU's Daniel Shattuck is tied for 38th in the field at 146 for the tournament. After carding a 80 in the opening round, he fired an impressive 66 in round two.

The Bulldogs' Caleb Bond is tied for 50th at 148 overall with back-to-back rounds of 74 while Zach Koerner is tied for 66th with a 150 figure. He shot a first-round 74 followed by a 76 in round two.

Finally, Shayne Beaufait is tied for 85th with a 155 total on rounds of 77 and 78, respectively.

The par 72 course at the Findlay Country Club measured in at 6,747 total yards.

The final round is set for Tuesday (Sept. 20) in Findlay for the 54-hole event.
