Bulldog Men's Golf Earns Runner-Up Honors At Motor City Meltdown

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team earned a second-place finish on Monday (April 14) at the Motor City Meltdown held near Detroit.

The Bulldogs shot a two-round 594 team score in the 36-hole event, which took place at TPC Michigan in Dearborn and was hosted by Wayne State University as a single-day event. FSU shot a 286 in round one and a 308 in round two, coming in only 11 strokes behind team champion and host WSU (583) in the field of nine teams.

Ferris State also had a "B" team that placed eighth in the field with a 639 figure on rounds of 311 and 328 overall.

FSU's Kole Putnam led the way with a fourth-place finish at 146 overall. He shot a 70 in round one and a 76 in the second round.

The Bulldogs' McCoy Biagioli placed tied for eighth in the field with a 149 score on rounds of 68 and 81, respectively.

Meanwhile, Drayton Cleaver shots. 74 in round one and a 76 in the second round to place tied for 11th at 150 overall. Zach Koerner was two strokes back at 152, which was good for a share of 15th place, on rounds of 74 and 78.

In addition, Sam Havey shot a 154 and finished 22nd, carding scores of 76 and 78 over the two rounds of competition.

For Ferris State's "B" team, Alex Kaems tied for 11th overall at 150 on rounds of 72 in the first and 78 in the second. Michael Fenech was 28th at 160, shooting a 77 in the opening round followed by a 83 in the second round. Ben Miller was right behind in 29th place, finishing with a 161 total with a 77 in the opening round and an 84 in the second round. Also, Will Heavisides took 39th place with a 168 figure on rounds of 85 and 83 in the first and second rounds of play, respectively.

The Bulldogs will take part in the GLIAC Championships set for April 18-20 in Augusta, Mich.
