Ferris State Men's Golf Opens NCAA Super Regional Play Thursday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team will open action in the 2025 Midwest/Central Super Regional on Thursday (May 8) at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo.

The Bulldogs will be making their 20th NCAA Tourney appearance in the past 22 years. The first round is set for Thursday afternoon with day two play on Friday (May 9) and the final round on Saturday (May 10).

The Midwest/Central Regional will be hosted by the St. Joseph Sports Commission and Missouri Western University and will consist of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region. Four individuals from each region will also compete in the 54-hole tournament.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals set for May 19-23 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

Along with Ferris State, those teams from the Midwest Region who will be making the super regional tourney appearance are top-seeded Missouri S&T followed by Grand Valley State, Wayne State, Missouri-St. Louis, Findlay, Ferris State, Ohio Dominican, Saginaw Valley State, Ashland and Hillsdale in ranking order. FSU is the Midwest Region's sixth seed.

Meanwhile, Central Oklahoma is the Central Region's top seed and followed by Henderson State, Harding, Washburn, Arkansas Tech, Southern Arkansas, Concordia-St. Paul, Winona State, Central Missouri and Arkansas-Fort Smith.

In 2017, the Bulldogs earned runner-up honors in the 2017 NCAA-II Midwest/Central Super Regional in Kearney, Neb., before going on to a national quarterfinal finish. In 2019, the Bulldogs placed tied for third at the super regional and reached the NCAA D2 National Championships, placing 20th overall. FSU also made the field four years ago in 2021, finishing 10th overall in Super Regional play, before earning a berth and placing ninth overall in 2023. Last year, the Bulldogs placed fifth in the Midwest Region in Ferris State's most recent appearance and went on to a ninth-place national finish.

This year makes this the 20th time in the past 22 years in which the Bulldogs have had representation in the NCAA Tournament when it has been held. The stretch of NCAA Championship representation in men's golf ranks as one of the best stretches in the country.

Ferris State reached the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals and won the stroke play portion of the conference championships held April 18-19 in Augusta, Mich.
