Bulldog Men's Golf Still In The Mix After Round One At NCAA Super Regional

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team opened action in the 2025 NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional Championships on Thursday (May 8) in St. Joseph, Mo., carding a 300 team score on day one of the event.

The Bulldogs sit 13th overall following opening round play in the 54-hole tournament with round two set for Friday (May 9) and the final round on Saturday (May 10) at the St. Joseph Country Club.

Currently, less than 10 strokes separate the third thru 14th place teams in the field. Central Oklahoma holds the day one lead with a 280 team score followed by Central Missouri (290) in second place and both Arkansas Tech (292) and Missouri S&T (292) tied for third overall.

A total of 20 teams are competing in the field and 11 schools are currently ranked among the nation's top 50 teams in the rankings, including FSU.

Individually, Zach Koerner led Ferris State with a two-over par score of 73, which sits tied for 23rd on the leaderboard. Kole Putnam shot a 75 and is tied for 49th while Drayton Cleaver came in with a 76 and is tied for 58th overall. The Bulldogs' McCoy Biagioli also shot a 76 and is tied for 58th with Sam Havey in a tie for 107th place following a first-round 83 total.

The Midwest/Central Regional is being hosted by the St. Joseph Sports Commission and Missouri Western University and consists of 10 teams from the Midwest Region along with 10 from the Central Region. Four individuals from each region are also competing in the 54-hole tournament.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals set for May 19-23 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

This year makes this the 20th time in the past 22 years in which the Bulldogs have had representation in the NCAA Tournament when it has been held. The stretch of NCAA Championship representation in men's golf ranks as one of the best stretches in the country.
