High School/Juniors: Played for Traverse City Central High School for four seasons (2006-2010) . . . For the 2008-2009 season he was a part of the Record-Eagle All Region Dream Team . . . Played three years (2010-2013) for the Traverse City North Stars in the NAHL where he logged 119 games . . . In his time with the North Stars he scored 33 goals and 34 assists . . .  Arguably had his best season during the 2012-2013 season for the Soo Eagles (Formerly the Traverse City North Stars) in the NAHL . . . He tallied 76 total points for the Eagles with 25 goals and 51 assists . . . Won Forward of the year for the 2012-13 season . . . He earned the NAHL's Most Valuable Player Award . . . Has a spot on the All NAHL team and is first team NAHL All North Division . . . Led the NAHL in points (76) and assists (51).

Personal:  Born September 7, 1992 in Traverse City, MI . . . The son of Larry Derda and Lori VanWormer . . .  Went to Traverse City Central High School in Traverse City, MI . . . Will be Majoring in Business at Ferris State University . . . His favorite hobbies include biking and golf . . . Has an older brother named Myles . . . Plays Forward/Center . . . shoots right.
