Junior (2015-16 Season): Helped FSU to a NCAA Regional Final appearance as well as the first WCHA Tournament Championship in team history...Saw action in 39 games for Ferris State during his junior season...Notched career-highs in goals (7) assists (11) and points (18)...Had three-point outputs on Nov. 6 in a victory over Minnesota State with 3 assists and March 26 in the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal with two goals and an assist including the game-winner in overtime...Scored two goals on March 26 to help advance the Bulldogs to the NCAA Midwest Regional Final...Finished the postseason with six points in six contests...Had a four-game point streak from Jan. 1 through Jan. 16.

Sophomore (2014-15 Season): Played in 35 games during his sophomore season, scoring six goals and eight assists…Led the team with four power play goals…Finished second on the squad with 92 shots on net…Scored his first goal of the year in a 1-0 shutout win at Michigan State…Had his first multi-point performance of the season with two assists and a plus-2 rating in a 4-1 win at Alaska-Anchorage on Jan. 8…Scored a season-high three points on two goals and an assist, including the game-winning tally in a 3-2 victory vs. Bowling Green on Feb. 14.

Freshman (2013-14 Season): Dressed in 27 games as a freshman, scoring three goals and two assists…Scored his first career goal in a 3-0 win over Michigan Tech on Jan. 25…Earned first career assist with a helper in a 7-1 win against Northern Michigan on Feb. 7…Secured his first career multi-point effort in a 2-1 win over Northern Michigan on Feb. 8, factoring in both Bulldog tallies with a goal and an assist.

High School/Juniors: Played for Traverse City Central High School for four seasons (2006-2010)...For the 2008-2009 season he was a part of the Record-Eagle All Region Dream Team...Played three years (2010-2013) for the Traverse City North Stars in the NAHL where he logged 119 games...In his time with the North Stars he scored 33 goals and 34 assists...Arguably had his best season during the 2012-2013 season for the Soo Eagles (Formerly the Traverse City North Stars) in the NAHL...He tallied 76 total points for the Eagles with 25 goals and 51 assists...Won Forward of the year for the 2012-13 season...He earned the NAHL's Most Valuable Player Award...Has a spot on the All NAHL team and is first team NAHL All North Division...Led the NAHL in points (76) and assists (51).

Personal:  Born September 7, 1992 in Traverse City, MI...The son of Larry Derda and Lori VanWormer...Went to Traverse City Central High School in Traverse City, MI...Will be Majoring in Business at Ferris State University...His favorite hobbies include biking and golf...Has an older brother named Myles...shoots right.
