Ferris State Wraps Up Weekend Series With Home Setback To Bemidji State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 4-1 to the Bemidji State Beavers on Saturday (Jan. 20) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) play as the two teams wrapped up a weekend series.

FSU freshman forward Lucas Finner scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs to open the scoring at 6:22 of the first, one-timing a low shot past Bemidji State goaltender Michael Bitzer. The goal was Finner's second of the year.

Sophomore forward Jason Tackett picked up his third assist of the year while senior forward Andrew Mayer earned his second.

The Beavers countered at 11:36 of the opening period when Hampus Sjodahl tied it at 1-1 from a sharp angle. Adam Brady and Dan Billett earned assists on Sjodahl's goal.

Bemidji State took the lead when Jay Dickman scored on a power play deflection for a 2-1 lead and the game-winning goal at 19:25 of the second from from Brady and Charlie Combs.

BSU's Dickman picked up his second power play goal of the night on a major power play at 13:07 of the third period from Zach Whitecloud and Combs.

Combs would ice the game with an empty netter from Dillon Eichstadt and Brady at 18:38 of the third period.

Bitzer made 19 saves for the win for Bemidji State while FSU's Justin Kapelmaster made 26 saves on 29 shots in the loss for Ferris State.

The Beavers held a 30-20 edge in shots on goal for the game, and went 2-5 on the power play, while the Bulldogs were held to 0-6 despite several good power play chances in the contest.

The Bulldogs return home to wrap up their four-game homestand starting on Friday (Jan. 26) against the Michigan Tech Huskies for 90's Night at the Ewigleben Ice Arena at 7:07 p.m. (ET). The weekend finale is on Saturday (Jan. 27) also at 7:07 p.m. (ET).
