Ferris State Falls To #18 Western Michigan In Non-League Road Decision

Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 5-0 to the nationally #18-ranked Western Michigan Broncos at Lawson Ice Arena on Saturday (Oct. 13) evening in Kalamazoo.

Ferris State junior goaltender Justin Kapelmaster made 37 saves in goal in the setback.

The Broncos went ahead at 17:42 when Cole Gallant scored from Colt Conrad and goaltender Trevor Gorsuch for a 1-0 lead and the game-winning tally.

Later, at 4:20 of the second, Conrad made it 2-0 Broncos from Cam Lee. Lee added a goal on the power play at 7:12 for a 3-0 edge from Hugh McGing and Josh Passolt.

In the third, the Broncos added another power play tally when Passolt scored from Conrad and Lee at 4:15 of the final period.

The Broncos finished the scoring at 18:35 of the third when Drew Worrad scored from Jade McMullen and Passolt to account for the final margin.

The Bulldogs played evenly in the first period in shots (15-13 WMU), but the Broncos outshot the Bulldogs 27-13 the rest of the way. 

In goal, Gorsuch picked up a shutout victory on 26 saves for the Broncos. 

Ferris State went 0-4 on the man advantage while the Broncos went 2-8.
