Bio

2019-20: (Freshman): An All-WCHA Rookie Team selection, Willets became the second consecutive freshman defenseman to lead the Bulldogs in point-scoring with 22 (three goals, 19 assists)…had four multi-point efforts…was WCHA Player of the Week once (Nov. 18) and Player of the Month for November…picked up first collegiate point at Miami at 4:05 of the third period on a delayed penalty, assisting on Oskar Andren’s goal…had four point streaks, longest was a seven point five-game point streak (all assists)…scored first collegiate goal at 10:44 of the third period against Bemidji State on Nov. 16.

High School/Junior: Played his junior hockey for Rocky Russo with the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Was part of South Division Champions Amarillo in 2019 and Midwest Division Champions Fairbanks in 2018. Had a career-best North American league season with 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points in 2018-19 with Amarillo in 57 games, and had 10 points on three goals and seven assists in 13 playoff games with the Bulls. Was teammates with fellow freshman Jason Brancheau last season. Was second in defensemen points amongst the Bulls. Was a first-team All-Stater in 2015-16 with St. Mary Cathloic Central as a Junior with 61 goals and 26 assists for 87 points in 26 games. Was a second-team All-State selection as a sophomore with 28 goals and 24 assists for 52 points in 25 games.

Personal: The son of Jason Willets and Jodie Bowman…born August 6, 1999…plays defense, shoots right…native of Erie, MI….played football as a freshman in high school and was a three-year baseball player at St. Mary Catholic Central…enjoys golfing…intends to major in Criminal Justice.
