Bulldogs Fall To Huskies In Series Finale

Houghton, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team fell 6-1 to the Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday (Nov. 27) at The MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) action.

Michigan Tech jumped in front when Matt Quercia scored at 9:17 of the first period, followed by Brett Thorne at 12:33 of the opening frame for a 2-0 MTU lead.

In the second period, Tristan Ashbrook gave Michigan Tech a 3-0 lead on the power play at 5:48 and scored again at even strength at 7:58 of the second frame.

Ferris State got on the board when senior forward Marshall Moise scored his fourth of the year at 8:39 of the middle frame to cut the MTU lead to 4-1.

The Huskies extended their lead at 14:24 of the second on Arvid Caderoth's goal, while Brian Halonen ended the scoring for the night at 6:48 of the third period.

Michigan Tech owned a 44-19 edge in shots on goal.

In relief of Ferris State sophomore goaltender Logan Stein, Carter McPhail made 21 stops. Stein took the loss with 17 saves, while Blake Pietila picked up the win with 17 saves on the night.

Ferris State finished 0-2 on the power play while Michigan Tech went 1-2. The Bulldogs blocked 19 shots in the game.

The Bulldogs return home to take on the Lake Superior State Lakers on Friday (Dec. 3) night at the Ewigleben Ice Arena with puck drop set for 7:07 p.m. (ET).
