FSU Dominates Albion In Non-League Match

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team ran its winning streak to three consecutive matches with a dominating 9-0 non-league home win over Albion on Tuesday (March 23) afternoon at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs swept the doubles round against the Britons and won all six singles flights in improving to 6-5 overall this campaign.  Albion dropped to 1-8 overall on the season with the setback.

FSU utilized seven different players in the match as number one singles competitor Kyle Revall did not play his individual match after teaming with Steven Roberts for a 8-6 win at the top doubles spot.

With Revall out of the singles lineup, the Bulldogs moved everyone else up one flight, but still managed to claim five of the six flights in straight-set fashion.  The lone three-setter came at the number one position where Ahmet Demir managed a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 triumph over Ben Miller.

Demir also paired with Arin Enge for an 8-5 victory at number three doubles.  FSU's other doubles win was recorded by Jack Swan and Justin Hermes by an 8-2 count at the second flight.

In singles action, Swan was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at the second position, Roberts took a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the third flight followed by Hermes with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph in the fourth spot.

The Bulldogs also received singles wins from Tyler Marengo by a 6-1, 6-2 count at number five and Enge, who was victorious by a 6-4, 6-0 decision in the sixth spot.

FSU is presently ranked 44th nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Rankings along with fourth in the Midwest Region.

The Bulldogs will resume Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action by traveling to Ohio for a pair of matches this weekend versus Tiffin and Findlay.  Friday's (March 26) outing at Tiffin is slated for a 3 p.m. (ET) start with Saturday's (March 27) contest at Findlay scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (ET).
