FSU Men's Tennis Opens Dual Season With Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team officially opened its 2010-11 dual season with a hard-fought 5-4 non-league home triumph over Aquinas in a battle of West Michigan schools on Saturday (Feb. 19) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs took two of the three doubles flights in building an advantage heading into singles competition.  However, Aquinas split the three singles matches to close the gap.

The match came down to the fifth singles spot where FSU's Oriol Vidal Cortes scored a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (2) win over Aquinas' John Telfer to earn the victory.

Ferris State will next be in action next Saturday (Feb. 26) as the Bulldogs open a six-match road swing by visiting Albion for a 1 p.m. (ET) tilt in Albion, Mich.
