Northwood Edges Out FSU In GLIAC Showdown

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team jumped out to an early lead, but could not hold on as perennial league power Northwood edged out the Bulldogs 5-4 on Wednesday (March 28) afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) showdown at the FSU Racquet & Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The nationally 13th-ranked Timberwolves trailed the Bulldogs 2-1 following doubles action before bouncing back to win four singles flights.

Both teams entered the match unbeaten in league play.  NU improved to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play with the win while 46th-ranked FSU fell to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the GLIAC.

Ferris State picked up wins at the numbers one and three doubles spots.  However, Northwood claimed four of the top five singles positions in earning the victory.

The Bulldogs will continue GLIAC action at home this weekend as FSU hosts Ohio Dominican on Friday, March 30, at 3 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.  The Bulldogs then host Lake Erie on Saturday, March 31, at 10 a.m.
