Big Rapids, Mich. - Four members of the 2011-12 Ferris State University men's tennis team have been recognized as all-conference honorees after helping lead the Bulldogs to their first league tournament crown in 13 years this past campaign.

Bulldog freshman Laurent Galarneau was honored as a first-team All-GLIAC honoree in voting conducted by the league's member head coaches.  Additionally, he was tabbed as the GLIAC's Freshman of the Year.

FSU had two second team all-league recipients in seniors Steven Roberts and Jack Swan while sophomore Otto Keresztes was chosen as an honorable mention honoree.

The quartet helped the Bulldogs to the school's first GLIAC Tournament Championship since 1999, which snapped perennial league power Northwood's 12-year title run.  The Bulldogs compiled a 17-7 overall record and upset nationally 37th-ranked Lewis (Ill.) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday (April 30) before falling to top-seeded host Drury (Mo.) in the second round.

Galarneau earned GLIAC "Freshman of the Year" laurels after posting a 13-8 overall singles mark in his initial season with the Bulldogs, including a 7-2 ledger in league action as the Bulldogs' number one player.  Meanwhile, the freshman from Quebec teamed with Roberts to record a 15-8 doubles mark and the duo lost only once (7-1) in conference doubles play at the top flight.

Galarneau won five of his final eight league singles encounters and together with Roberts picked up a victory in seven of his 10 most recent doubles competitions heading into the NCAA Tournament.

Northwood's Teddy Mebounou was chosen as the GLIAC Player of the Year while the Timberwolves' Zane Colestock claimed Coach of the Year recognition for the 2011-12 campaign.
