Late Bulldog Charge In Singles Play Falls Short Against Ohio Dominican

Big Rapids, Mich. - Host Ohio Dominican swept the doubles round and held off Ferris State's charge in singles play to post a 5-4 win over the Bulldogs in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's tennis action on Saturday (Feb. 22) at the New Albany Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The Panthers claimed all three doubles flights by scores of 8-4, 8-6 and 8-5 at the first, second and third positions, respectively, to build a 3-0 edge heading into the singles round.

Ferris State pulled out wins in four of the six singles spots, but Ohio Dominican picked up straight-set victories at the second and sixth flights to hold on for the win.

Three of Ferris State's four singles triumphs came in straight-sets with Laurent Mailloux posting a three-set victory as well at third singles.  The other Bulldogs who picked up wins included Laurent Galarneau at the number one flight along with Otto Keresztes at the fourth spot and Jose Calero in five singles action.

Ferris State, ranked 33rd in the nation, fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in league play with the setback.

The Bulldogs wrap up their three-match weekend league swing to Ohio by visiting Findlay on Sunday (Feb. 23) for a 12 p.m. (ET) league tilt.
