Ferris State Men's Tennis Drops Road Match At Division I Western Michigan

Big Rapids, Mich. - Host Western Michigan jumped out to an early lead and beat the Ferris State University men's tennis squad by a 7-0 count in non-conference action on Tuesday (March 25) at the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo.

The NCAA Division I Broncos swept the doubles round over the Bulldogs and then captured all six singles flights in improving to 10-8 overall this season. FSU fell to 4-12 on the year and had its two-match win streak stopped with the setback.

All six singles flights were decided in straight-sets and went to Western Michigan with the closest decision coming by a 6-1, 7-6 count at third singles. In doubles play, the Broncos won all three matches by scores of 8-2, 8-4 and 8-6 from top to bottom, respectively.

The doubles round counted as a single point towards the team score per Division I rules.

Ferris State returns home where the Bulldogs will play three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) home contests later this week. FSU hosts Lake Erie on Thursday (March 27) starting at 3 p.m. (ET). The Bulldogs then face Walsh and Malone on Friday and Saturday (March 28-29), respectively.
