Ferris State Men's Tennis Battles NCAA-I Western Michigan In First Setback

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad battled NCAA Division I Western Michigan on the road Monday (Feb. 15) night, but suffered its first setback of the 2015-16 campaign with a 6-1 loss versus the Broncos at West Hills in Kalamazoo.

The Broncos, who improved to 6-0 at home this season, extended its winning streak to four-straight matches by topping FSU to complete a doubleheader sweep. FSU dropped to 2-1 overall this season with the loss.

Western Michigan jumped out to an early lead by taking the three doubles flights, which counted as a single point in the team score per NCAA Division I rules. The sweep included a narrow 7-6 (7-5) win over FSU's Steward Sell and Alex Brown at the number three flight in the lineup.

In singles action, Ferris State picked up its lone win of the night at the number three singles position where freshman Till von Winning was victorious with a three-set triumph.

Overall, a total of three of the six singles matches were determined in three sets in the tight contest.

The stretch starts on Friday (Feb. 19) when FSU hosts Salem International at 1 p.m. (ET).
