Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad opened up a weekend homestand and resumed Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play by taking a 9-0 sweep over visiting Lake Superior State on Saturday (April 9) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
The Bulldogs, ranked 36th in the country, swept the doubles round and won all six singles flights in improving to 14-4 on the year. With the triumph, FSU also stayed unbeaten at 4-0 atop the GLIAC standings.
Ferris State dominated in doubles play with wins of 8-2, 8-5 and 8-1 at the three flights, respectively.
In singles action, the Bulldogs swept the six positions and took three of the six flights by decisive 6-0, 6-0 counts. The closest match was still a 6-1, 6-3 triumph for FSU at the third spot in the lineup.
The victory was FSU's sixth in its last seven outings to date this year and it also marked the Bulldogs' 13th-straight GLIAC regular-season win over the past two seasons.
Ferris State wraps up its weekend homestand by hosting Michigan Tech on Sunday (April 10) in a 10 a.m. (ET) league tilt at the Racquet and Fitness Center.
