Ferris State Men's Tennis Last Remaining Unbeaten GLIAC Team After Weekend Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team took a big step towards repeating as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular-Season Champions as the Bulldogs posted a decisive win over Wayne State on Sunday (April 17) to remain the lone unbeaten team in conference action.

Ferris State, which beat rival Northwood on the road Saturday, capped the weekend off with a 7-2 win over the Warriors in Detroit to improve to 7-0 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs, ranked 36th nationally and second in the Midwest Region, claimed two of the three doubles flights en route to the early lead over Wayne State. FSU posted wins of 8-2 at the top flight and 8-4 at third doubles while dropping a narrow 9-8 decision at the middle spot.

In singles play, Ferris State's top four players all recorded individual wins. Three of the four came in straight-sets with freshman Till von Winning pulling out a three-set triumph at the second flight. FSU also won at six singles with NU's lone triumph coming in three sets at the fifth position.

The victory was FSU's fourth-straight and ninth in its last 10 outings to date this year as the Bulldogs improved to 17-4 overall.

The Bulldogs will return home for their final two regular-season matches and an opportunity to win the league's outright crown as the Bulldogs host Walsh on Saturday (April 23) and Tiffin on Sunday (April 24) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. FSU also faces Albion on Sunday in non-league play in the second match of a twinbill.
