#25 Ferris State Sweeps Hillsdale For Third Consecutive Men's Tennis Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad notched its third consecutive victory as the Bulldogs rolled past visiting Hillsdale in non-league action by a 9-0 score on Sunday (Feb. 18) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The nation's 25th-ranked Bulldogs picked up their second shutout in as many days on the heels of an identical 9-0 triumph over Aquinas on Saturday in Big Rapids.

FSU topped its former Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) counterpart by sweeping the doubles round and capturing all six singles positions. Five of the six singles flights were decided in straight-sets with FSU also grabbing a three-set victory from Daniel Bennett at the number six spot in the lineup.

In doubles action, the Bulldogs started quickly as the nationally-ranked tandem of Steward Sell and Nur Adim Ramdani Iswan picked up an 8-3 win at the number one spot. Meanwhile, Austin DeBruyne and Daniil Tarantinov combined for a 9-8 (9) win at the second flight with Mathis Guerre and Bennett recording an 8-2 decision at the third flight.

Sell and Iswan had decisive wins at the top two singles positions with Tarantinov and DeBruyne winning the middle two flights in the singles lineup. Guerre recorded a straight-set 6-0, 6-2 victory at the fifth flight with Bennett taking the sixth flight by a score of 6-1, 5-7, 10-8 in FSU's favor.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-1 overall this season. Hillsdale had battled Northwood to a 5-4 decision on Saturday in Midland and now drops to 2-2 this season.

Along with being 25th in the national rankings, FSU is also currently third in the Midwest Region.

The Bulldogs will next square off against NCAA Division I Western Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 25, in Kalamazoo starting at 5 p.m. (ET).
