Ferris State Battles Nation's #6 Saint Leo In Florida Setback On Tuesday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad battled one of the nation's top teams well, but fell to nationally sixth-ranked Saint Leo (Fla.) by a 7-0 score on Tuesday (March 12) at the Saint Leo Tennis Center in Saint Leo, Fla.

Saint Leo, which was guided by Ferris State alum and former Bulldog head coach Chad Berryhill, earned the doubles point despite closely-contested matchups at the top two flights.

In singles play, Saint Leo claimed all six positions, including a three-set victory at the fourth spot in the lineup.

The outing featured several lengthy battles in both singles and doubles play as the match took nearly four hours to complete.

FSU fell to 2-6 overall this spring with the setback, but two losses came against NCAA Division I Western Michigan and the Bulldogs have also played two other top 10 ranked teams in the country, including Saint Leo.

Ferris State returns to the court on its annual spring break trip as FSU faces nationally 12th-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday (March 14) at 3 p.m. (ET) in Florida before closing out the trip at Florida Southern on Friday (March 15) in another 3 p.m. (ET) non-league contest.
