Ferris State Men's Tennis Earns 23rd NCAA Tournament Appearance

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team has been selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division II Tournament as the Bulldog squad received an official at-large bid via a live selection announcement on Tuesday (May 7) evening.

The NCAA Division II National Men's & Women's selection committees released the respective fields for the national tournaments via NCAA.com with the Bulldogs holding a live selection show watch gathering at the Ferris State Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Bulldog men's team will make its 23rd all-time NCAA Tourney appearance and is guided by interim head coach Mark Doren.

The FSU men's squad drew the number four seed in the Midwest Region and will travel this weekend to Indianapolis, Ind. FSU will face fifth-seeded Lewis (Ill.) in one of two Midwest Regional events on Saturday (May 11) at Center Grove High School. Official match time is set for 11 a.m. (ET).

UIndy will host the Midwest Regional #1 bracket and face eighth-seeded Missouri-St. Louis in the other first-round matchup on Saturday. The regional final will pit the two winners on Sunday (May 12) also starting at 11 a.m. (ET).

The winner of the four-team event on the men's side will move on to the NCAA-II round of 16 set for May 21-25 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Along with Indianapolis, GLIAC member Wayne State was also chosen to host the other Midwest Regional bracket with the winner of the Midwest Region #2 event also moving on to the D2 Sweet Sixteen.

The Bulldogs most recently advanced to the GLIAC Championship match for the fifth-straight year this season. Earlier this year, the Bulldogs posted a close 4-3 win over Lewis on the road in Romeoville, Ill.

Three years ago, Ferris State made its deepest NCAA Tournament run ever by reaching the Division II Final Four in Denver, Colo. The Bulldogs then made another strong run in 2017 by reaching the D2 Elite Eight before falling in last year's Midwest Regional final at Drury (Mo.).
