Ferris State Men's Tennis Inks Standout Performer Jan Koupil

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad has bolstered its lineup for the future as head coach Mark Doren announced today the signing of standout Jan Koupil (Stockholm, Sweden).

Koupil will join the Bulldogs as a freshman in the fall of 2020 and is currently ranked #10 in his age group in Sweden. He also holds an 11.5 universal tennis rating.

"I'm really excited to be adding a player that is so mentally strong on the court and in the classroom," said Doren. "Jan has a huge forehand and likes to use his athletic ability to play an all-court game. He's a big-time player on and off the court"

Koupil plans to study Information Security and Intelligence at FSU and is in line to potentially receive the highest academic scholarships offered by the school.

Ferris State reached its fourth consecutive NCAA Division II Regional Final last spring along with a runner-up finish in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs also won 20-plus matches for the third time in four years.

FSU will open the spring campaign in February with the GLIAC Championships set for April and the NCAA Tournament in May.
