Bulldog Men's Tennis Drops NCAA Regional Final Rematch To Indianapolis

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad battled the University of Indianapolis in a rematch of last year's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional final, but fell to the Greyhounds 7-0 on Friday (Feb. 21) at the UIndy Tennis Center in Indianapolis.

Despite the final score, the Bulldogs fought hard against one of the country's top squads in the regional showdown.

The Bulldogs' top doubles team of Mathis Guerre and Pablo Munoz Baroja fell to the nation's number one doubles team at the first flight with the number two squad of Josh McDermott and Cedric Rupa posting a big 6-4 triumph at the second flight for the Bulldogs.

In singles action, a pair of the losses were also to highly-ranked players nationally as Baroja fell to the nation's eighth-ranked individual at one singles and Yannic Mader suffered a setback to the 12th-ranked player in the country in a three-setter at two singles.

Overall, Indianapolis claimed two of the three doubles flights for the first point and then captured the six singles flights in earning the win over FSU.

Ferris State continues its regional weekend trip with a visit to Findlay on Saturday (Feb. 22) for a 2 p.m. (ET) non-league tilt in Findlay, Ohio. FSU then faces Tiffin on Sunday (Feb. 23) starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET) at the Lakewood Racquet Club in Ohio.
