Ferris State Pushes Men's Tennis Win Streak To Four-Straight With Big Regional Triumph

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad claimed an impressive regional win on Sunday (Feb. 28) as the Bulldogs pulled out a 4-3 road victory over Hillsdale to run their winning streak to four-straight matches overall.

The Bulldogs garnered the win at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center to finish the weekend a perfect 2-0 after a dominating 7-0 sweep against Hope College on Saturday.

Overall, Ferris State is now 4-2 overall with both of the setbacks coming to open the year against NCAA Division I Western Michigan.

Prior to Sunday evening's match, Hillsdale had beat the Bulldogs in each of the two previous contests. The win was the Bulldogs' third in as many D2 regional tilts to date this year.

Ferris State earned the doubles point by claiming a 6-1 win at the number one flight behind the pairing of Mathis Guerre and Jan Koupil in addition to a 7-5 win by Yannic Alexander Mader and Ayush Deswal at the number three spot in the lineup.

Guerre and Mader were joined by Benjamin Lortie in emerging victorious in singles play. Guerre won in straight-sets at the first flight with Mader and Lortie taking the third and fourth positions, respectively, in straight-sets as well.

The Bulldogs are next slated to take the court on Saturday, March 13, with yet another regional match against Lewis (Ill.) in Plainfield, Ill. The contest is slated for a 4:30 p.m. (ET) start and will mark FSU's final non-league match prior to the start of GLIAC play at home against Wayne State on March 19.
