Ferris State Tennis Teams Earning National Attention With Release Of Latest ITA Polls

Big Rapids, Mich. - After impressive starts to the 2021 spring season, both the Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams are garnering national and regional attention based on the latest Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings unveiled this week.

The Bulldog women's team, which is currently off to a 7-1 start, moved into the national rankings at #24 in this week's poll. Meanwhile, the men's team, currently unbeaten at 7-0, is just outside of the top 25 receiving votes in the nation.

Additionally, both teams are currently ranked fourth overall in their respective Midwest Region rankings.

In the women's regional poll, Indianapolis is first followed by Southwest Baptist, Grand Valley State and FSU in the top four overall among the 10 teams to earn a regional ranking.

Meanwhile, in the men's regional poll, the Bulldogs also sit fourth and trail only Indianapolis, Drury and Southwest Baptist. FSU is the highest listed Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) school in the regional listing.

Both Ferris State teams are currently riding seven-match winning streaks and off to 2-0 starts in the GLIAC following impressive home wins over Wayne State and Ashland this past weekend at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The two squads continue league play on the road Friday (March 26) as they square off against longtime conference tennis rival Northwood in Midland starting at 1 p.m. (ET). The women's team will then visit Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (March 27) for a 12 p.m. (ET) GLIAC encounter.
