FSU's Mathis Guerre Named GLIAC Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University men's tennis standout Mathis Guerre has been picked as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Guerre led the Bulldogs to a pair of shutout victories over the weekend as FSU returned to action at the Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids. The veteran standout went 4-0 for the weekend with two wins in doubles play at the number one flight and two in singles action at the top spot in the Bulldog lineup. Both singles wins came in straight-sets.

Guerre's play helped FSU stay undefeated and atop the GLIAC standings with a perfect conference record. It also gave the Bulldogs a perfect 6-0 home record this year.

On Wednesday (April 14), Guerre and the Bulldogs kept the momentum going by topping West Michigan rival Grand Valley State in a first-place league showdown in Grand Rapids. FSU is now 11-0 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the GLIAC.

Ferris State will travel to Michigan's Upper Peninsula this weekend, facing Lake Superior State on Friday (April 16) and Michigan Tech on Saturday (April 17) before the GLIAC Tournament set for April 23-25 in Midland.
