Ferris State Men's Tennis Moves Closer To GLIAC Outright Championship With Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team kept its perfect mark intact on Friday (April 16) as the Bulldogs posted a 5-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road triumph at Lake Superior State.

The Bulldogs stayed on top of the GLIAC standings, moving to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the GLIAC by virtue of the triumph at LSSU's Student Activity Center inside the Norris Center.

The win assured the Bulldogs at least a share of the GLIAC regular-season championship with an opportunity to finish the league campaign unbeaten and alone in first place with a win in Saturday's regular-season finale.

The Bulldogs swept the doubles round to pick up the first point of the match, beating FSU by identical 7-5 scores at the first and third flights to go with a decisive 6-2 victory at two doubles.

In the singles round, Ferris State notched wins from Yannic Alexander Mader at two singles along with Jan Koupil at the third spot, Benjamin Lortie in four singles action and Ayush Deswal at six singles.

Ferris State improved to 6-0 on the year in matches played on the road or neutral courts with the victory. LSSU fell to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the GLIAC with the loss.

The Bulldogs will complete the weekend swing in the Upper Peninsula by visiting Michigan Tech on Saturday (April 17) for a 2 p.m. (ET) league tilt in Houghton.
