Ferris State Tennis Teams Both Receive NCAA Division II Tournament Berths!

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads have both received NCAA Tournament berths as the official selections were announced on Tuesday evening in a live online selection show by the NCAA.

The Bulldogs are the lone representatives from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) chosen for the national tournament in either men's or women's tennis after championship seasons which saw both squads claim the GLIAC Regular-Season and Tournament titles.

Ferris State is the number three overall seed for both the men's and women's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional and both teams will face second-seeded Southwest Baptist (Mo.) from the Great Lakes Valley Conference this weekend in regional semifinal action in Midland at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

Northwood University will serve as the pre-determined host for both the men's and women's D2 Midwest Regional, which runs from Saturday thru Monday. A total of four teams were selected for the women's regional with five teams chosen for the men's regional.

The Bulldog women are slated to hit the court first in the regional semifinals against Southwest Baptist on Saturday (May 8). The match has been moved and is expected to start at 11:30 a.m. (ET) if weather allows at that time. The winner will advance to Sunday's regional final at 2:30 p.m. (ET) to face the winner of the matchup between top-seeded Indianapolis and fourth-seeded Hillsdale.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs were one of three teams to garner a first-round bye and will face Southwest Baptist in the regional semifinals on Sunday (May 9) at 11 a.m. (ET). The other side of the bracket pits fourth-seeded Hillsdale against fifth-seeded Illinois-Springfield in round one on Saturday with the winner taking on top-seeded Indianapolis in the regional semifinals. The regional final on the men's side is slated for Monday (May 10) at 11 a.m. (ET).

The winner of both the men's and women's regional tournaments will then advance to the NCAA Division II Championships and the final eight slated to take place May 18-21 in Surprise, Ariz. 

The Bulldog men are currently 15-0 overall while the women's team holds a 16-1 mark and has won its last 16 matches in a row overall.

The Ferris State men's tennis squad will be making its 24th all-time NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, including its sixth-straight berth. Meanwhile, the women's squad is in the field for the 21st time in school history and the first time in six years since 2015.
