Bulldog Men's Tennis Drops NCAA Regional Semifinal To Southwest Baptist

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team saw its season come to a close on Sunday (May 9) as the Bulldogs fell 4-0 to Southwest Baptist in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Semifinals in Midland.

The second-seeded Bearcats advanced to the regional final by beating the third-seeded Bulldogs, who suffered their only loss of the year, finishing the 2021 season with a 15-1 overall record.

Southwest Baptist took the first point of the day, winning at two and three doubles to claim the initial point of the match.

In singles action, the Bearcats then managed to win at one, three and six singles in straight-sets to garner the win. The Bulldogs led in two other matches when the contest came to a finish.

The loss snapped a 15-match winning streak for the Bulldogs, who had not been beat by anyone in action this year.

This spring, the Bulldogs captured both the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular Season and Tournament Championships, joining the Bulldog women's squad atop the conference.

FSU was making its 24th all-time NCAA Division II Tournament appearance and its sixth in a row this season in men's tennis action.
