Eight Ferris State Tennis Standouts Garner All-Conference Recognition For 2022 Season!

Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of eight Ferris State University men's and women's tennis standouts were honored as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selections for the 2022 campaign as the league announced its annual postseason award recipients on Friday evening in conjunction with the conference tournament in Midland.

The Bulldogs, under head coach Mark Doren, had a total of three first-team All-GLIAC honorees, three second-team picks and a pair of honorable mention choices combined for the men and women.

The eight total selections ranked among the most in the conference in voting by the league's member head coaches.

On the women's side, sophomore Sophie Daavettila (Williamston) was an All-GLIAC First Team selection while freshman Parker Nolan (Spokane, Wash.) garnered All-GLIAC Second Team laurels. FSU also had an honorable mention choice in senior Brittany Lavenant (Camarillo, Calif.).

Meanwhile, the Bulldog men had two first-team all-conference choices in senior Mathis Guerre (Aix en Provence, France) and sophomore Jan Koupil (Stockholm, Sweden) with both sophomore Benjamin Lortie (Gatineau, Quebec) and junior Yannic Alexander Mader (Berlin, Germany) earning All-GLIAC Second Team accolades. Finally, senior Josh McDermott (Queenstown, New Zealand) was an honorable mention recipient.

For the women, Daavettila claimed All-GLIAC First Team honors for the second consecutive year while both Nolan and Lavenant claimed conference recognition for the first time in their respective careers.

Guerre claimed All-GLIAC honors for the third time with Mader picking up his second mention after earned first-team status last year. Koupil, Lortie and McDermott also attained recognition for the second-straight year after all three were honorable mention choices last season.

The Bulldog men's squad earned runner-up honors in the GLIAC during the regular season and earned a first-round bye for the league tournament. Meanwhile, the women's team finished the regular-season tied for fourth overall before falling in the GLIAC Quarterfinals on Friday night at the Midland Tennis Center.
