Ferris State Tennis Teams Open GLIAC Tournament Action On Friday In Midland

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads will both embark on postseason play at the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships this weekend in Midland.

Both the Bulldog men's and women's squads will be the number three seed at the Midland Tennis Center for the annual postseason event.

Action at the league tournament begins on Friday (April 25) with the top two seeds in both the men's and women's competitions earning first-round byes.

The Bulldog men's squad will start the conference tournament on Friday against sixth-seeded Lake Superior State beginning at 11 a.m. (ET). Meanwhile, the women's team will open play on Friday versus sixth-seeded Davenport starting at 4 p.m. (ET).

On the men's side, the other first-round matchup features fourth-seeded Purdue Northwest versus fifth-seeded Davenport. The semifinals are set for Saturday (April 26) starting at 10 a.m. (ET) with the championship match on Sunday (April 27) at 10 a.m. (ET).

The women's bracket also features another first-round matchup as fourth-seeded Saginaw Valley State meets fifth-seeded Lake Superior State. The women's semifinals will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. (ET) with the title match on Sunday at 3 p.m. (ET).

This year's event is a single-elimination tournament for both the men and the women with the winner of each tournament receiving an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament. Teams will play a "clinch-clinch" format, meaning that after the doubles point has been decided, any remaining doubles match shall be abandoned and the match will be stopped once a team reaches four points.

The Bulldogs captured the GLIAC's Tournament Champions in men's tennis last year and has captured six tournament titles since 2012. Ferris State has won five of the last eight men's league postseason tournament championships overall.

The FSU women's team reached the semifinals last year. Ferris State won its first league tournament postseason championship since 2002 four years ago in 2021.
