DAWGS ADVANCE! FSU Knocks Off Wayne State To Advance To D2 Regional Final

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad advanced into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional final with an exciting 4-3 win over Wayne State on Friday (May 9) in the opening round of the tournament in Indianapolis.

The Bulldogs knocked off the Warriors, who had beat FSU twice this year, to move into the regional final.

With the triumph, FSU will next face host Indianapolis on Saturday (May 10) with a berth into the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen on the line.

Ferris State trailed Wayne State in the match by a 3-0 score before rallying for the victory,

Wayne State claimed the doubles point and took the first two completed singles matches, but FSU scored wins at one, three, four and five singles to earn the win. Freshman Jose Perez scored the deciding point with a three-set win at the fifth flight.

The Bulldogs are making their 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and their 28th all-time.

Saturday's regional final is set for an 11 a.m. (ET) start. The winner will advance into the D2 Sweet Sixteen set for May 20-25 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
