FSU Track Takes Part In GVSU Holiday Open
Allendale, Mich. - The Ferris State University indoor track and
field program opened the 2009-10 slate with its first action by
sending a selected handful of individuals to the Grand Valley State
Holiday Open this past weekend (Dec. 17-18) in Allendale, Mich.
The meet was held at inside GVSU's Laker Turf Building and
represented the first official action of the year for the
Bulldogs. The meet was a late addition to FSU's 2009-10
schedule.
Senior Mike Mangieri paced Ferris by winning the
5,000 meters (15:13.71). Freshman teammate David
Silversmith also competed in the same event and placed
ninth overall (16:02.89).
Senior Greg Burns came in fourth overall in the
pole vault (15-3) while senior Justin Trombley
took 12th place in the vault (13-1.50).
Finally, sophomore Alex Best was a fourth-place
finisher in the men's mile run (4:25.74) and freshman Josh
Kyser wound up seventh in the mile (4:38.68).
FSU returns to action by taking part in the Saginaw Valley State
Doug Hanson Open on Jan. 15 in University Center, Mich.
