FSU Women 9th, Men 10th At GLIAC Indoor

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up action in the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb. 26) in University Center, Mich.

The Bulldog women placed ninth overall in the field with the men coming in 10th in the two-day league event hosted by Saginaw Valley State University at O'Neill Arena inside the Ryder Center.

The FSU women totaled 27 points while the men registered five points overall in the competition with both the men's and women's races won by Grand Valley State.

The Bulldogs placed third overall in the women's distance medley relay (11:58.99) while reaching an NCAA Division II National Provisional Qualification mark.

Bulldog freshman Samantha Johnson placed fifth in the women's mile run (5:01.27) and also reached a national provisional mark.  For her efforts, Johnson also received the league's Freshman of the Year Award.

Ferris State sophomore Zoey Hohmann had FSU's highest overall finish with a runner-up effort in the 400 meters (58.09).

FSU freshman Brittany Anderson finished sixth in the 5,000 meters (17:54.97) with sophomore Anna Rudd coming in seventh in the same event (17:56.51).

The women's squad also came in eighth overall in the 4x400-meter relay (4:11.05).

The Bulldog men were paced by sophomore Ryan Chute, who came in fourth overall in the mile run (4:18.38).
