FSU Track & Field Kicks Off 2012 Campaign

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field squads officially kicked off their 2012 indoor campaign by sending selected competitors to the Bob Eubanks Open hosted by Grand Valley State on Friday (Jan. 13) evening in Allendale, Mich.

The non-scoring competition took place inside the Kelly Family Sports Center and included student-athletes from a variety of schools such as FSU, GVSU, Notre Dame, South Florida, Cornerstone, Michigan State and more.

On the women's side, FSU junior Zoey Hohmann took ninth place in the 400 meters (59.82) while junior Alyssa Osika came in ninth in the women's mile run (5:17.54) and sophomore Jessica Pilling claimed ninth place in the weight throw (54-7.50).  Sophomore Breeann Ovokaitys claimed 10th place in the mile (5:18.92) and was also 11th in the 3,000 meters (10:56.74).

Junior Tyler Crossman placed fourth in the 3,000 meters (8:36.87) and was 11th in the mile (4:22.09) for the men's squad. Junior Ryan Chute finished seventh in the mile run (4:20.87) and was also ninth in the 3,000 meters (8:54.33) while senior Justin Price finished 11th in the men's 400 meters (51.45).  

The Bulldogs return to action next Friday, Jan. 20, at the Mike Lints Laker Open, which will also be hosted by GVSU in Allendale.
