FSU Women 4th, Men 19th At D2 Challenge

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field teams returned to action on Saturday (Feb. 4) by taking part in the Division II Team Challenge hosted by the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldog women's squad finished fourth overall of 21 schools with 54 points in the competition while the men's team placed 19th in the field with 10 points.

Ferris State captured three first-place finishes on the women's side with senior Tina Muir winning the 3,000 meters in a time of 9:39.02 overall.  Junior Zoey Hohmann placed first in the 400 meters (57.83) and added a sixth-place effort in the 200 meters (26.18).

FSU also women the women's distance medley relay in a time of 11:47.55.

Sophomore Jessica Pilling received runner-up honors in the weight throw (57-0), juniorShelby Janutol took third place in the mile run (5:05.41), sophomore Brittany Anderson was third in the 3,000 meters (10:18.64) and junior Alyssa Osika placed eighth in the mile (5:14.63) as FSU finished with eight top-eight performances on the women's side.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs were led by a third-place effort in the distance medley relay (10:19.36).

Bulldog junior Lucas Johnson took sixth place in the weight throw (53-8.25), junior Ryan Chute was eighth in the mile (4;19.47), junior Tyler Crossman came in ninth in the 3,000 meters (8:45.08) and freshman Spencer Gerber finished ninth in the mile (4:22.08).

The Bulldogs next take part in the Grand Valley State "Big Meet" on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11, in Allendale, Mich.
