Ferris State Track Squads Take Part In Michigan State Spartan Invitational In East Lansing

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads competed over the weekend in the Michigan State Spartan Invitational hosted by MSU in East Lansing.

The Bulldogs' Jon Cok tied for second overall in the men's high jump (1.99m).

FSU senior Brett Allpow took fourth place in the men's hammer throw (51.85m) with Ross Miller coming in fifth overall (51.21m) in the same event. Allpow also was eighth in the discus (43.73m).

Meanwhile, Stanley Williams came in fifth overall in the long jump (6.59m) and Chris Triffo was sixth in the javelin (42.71m). Christian Hector wound up 13th in the 400 meters (52.99).

The Bulldogs' Zach Mckenzie took fifth place in the 5,000 meters (15:57.77) with Weston Rackley seventh (16:23.56), Aaron Jarema eighth (16:24.11) and Gage Clevland 11th (16:31.85).

On the women's side, FSU's Sarah Utchel came in second in the 200 meters (26.75) and was third in the 100 meters (12.77). Sheridan Britney took fourth place in the 400 meters (1:02.16) with Salix Sampson finishing fifth (1:02.22) in the event.

Britney also placed fifth in the 200 meters (28.06) and Sampson was sixth (28.37) with Nicole Snyder eighth (28.93). Allyson Faulkner finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:18.58).

FSU's Kelly Babcock was fifth in the 5,000 meters (19:04.57) and Kensington Garvey placed sixth (19:11.57).

Freshman Sydney Dawes placed seventh in the 800 meters (2:24.75) with Carissa Schurr taking eighth place (2:25.13) in the race.

Ferris State's Amanda Eslinger placed tied for eighth overall in the high jump (1.55m). Reina Troxell finished ninth in the discus (35.64m).

Kathryn Etelamaki was 13th overall in the 1,500 meters (4:54.07).

The Bulldogs were also fifth in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:27.98) and seventh in the men's event (3:42.60).

Ferris State is slated to return to action next weekend (April 14-15) at the Bucknell Bison Classic in Lewisburg, Pa.
