Bulldog Track Athletes Compete Well In Large Bucknell Bison Classic Field

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field squads headed east for action this weekend as the Bulldogs competed in the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell in Pennsylvania.

The large meet annually ranks as one of the region's biggest and included standout athletes from all levels of competition, including NCAA Division I schools such as Penn State, West Virginia, Buffalo, Bucknell and more in addition to various D2, D3 and NAIA competitors.

Overall, Ferris State had nine performances among the top 30 overall in event action during the two-day meet, which took place on Saturday and Sunday (April 14-15).

On the women's side, FSU's Sarah Utchel placed 19th in the 200 meters (26.51) and was 26th in the 100 meters (12.84).

The Bulldogs' Sheridan Britney came in 21st in the 400 meters (1:00.20) with Salix Sampson 30th (1:01.45) in the race.

Reina Troxwell finished 28th in the discus (118-03).

The Bulldog men were led by Stanley Williams, who came in third overall in the long jump with a leap of 6.90 meters (22-7.75).

Ferris State's Brett Allpow was 12th in the hammer throw (161-8) and took 16th place in the discus (151-8)

FSU's Lucas Harris placed 20th in the 400 meters (50.65).

Ferris State next heads to the Al Owens Classic hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale on Friday (April 20).
