Bulldog Track Squads Combine For 25 Top-15 Finishes At Bob Eubanks Open

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads officially opened second semester action on Saturday (Jan. 15), competing in the annual Bob Eubanks Open hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale.

The non-scoring event included competitors fro schools at all levels such as FSU, GVSU, Northern Illinois, Toledo, Davenport, Cornerstone and more.

Overall, the Bulldogs had a total of 25 top-15 meet finishes in the opening event action with a total of four top-three efforts.

Bulldog freshman Danae Feldpausch earned runner-up honors in the 800 meters (2:19.32) with fellow freshman Kaylee Huey placing 10th in the event (2:32.32) and junior Katrina Droski coming in 12th (2:38.29).

FSU's Makayla Roberts placed 12th in the women's 400 meters (1:05.76) with Emily Fredrick finishing 15th (1:06.20). Hanna Brock was 14th in the mile run (5:23.70).

In the field events, Emma Stephayn was third overall in the weight throw invite field with a toss of 51-7.75. Bulldog junior Brianna Copley came in fifth overall in the shot put invite field with a throw of 41-8.75 overall. Ferris State's Claudia Wilkinson tied for ninth overall in the high jump (4-11).

The Bulldogs' tandem of Feldpausch, Brock, Huey and Callie Delaney took seventh place in the 4x400-meter relay (4:25.67) with a second quartet of Makayla RobertsMadison Hammer, Fredrick and Kayla Muth coming in 10th (4:31.66).

On the men's side, FSU's Ray Lee tied for fourth place in the 60 meters (7.01) and was 16th in the 200 meters (23.04). Randall Kuch placed third in the 400 meters (51.28).

Meanwhile, Ferris State's Kevin Wilson came in seventh in the 800 meters (2:03.86) with Brendan Deneen finishing ninth (2:04.32) and David Jaimes 15th (2:14.96) in the race.

FSU's Donis Harris took sixth place in the mile (4:18.86) while Noah Griffith was 12th (4:24.12). Harris also came in ninth overall in the 3,000 meters (8:47.54).

The Bulldogs' Jake Zammitta won the shot put (45-3.75) open flight. Forrest Akers finished seventh in the shot put invite field (44-8.75) while Kyle Droulliard was ninth (39-10) and also came in ninth in the weight throw (42-2).

The Bulldogs took sixth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a pairing of Ethan Hamilton along with Kuch, Deneen and Dakota Simpson, clocking 3:32.42. A second group of Wilson, Griffith, Harris and Travis Feldpaush finished ninth (3:45.17).

Ferris State will return to action on Friday (Jan. 21) at the Saginaw Valley State Doug Hansen Open in University Center, Mich.
