Ferris State Track Teams Race Well At SVSU Tune-Up In Last Meet Prior To GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads held their final competition prior to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships as FSU took part in the Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up Meet on Friday (Feb. 18) night in University Center, Mich.

In men's action, FSU's Dakota Simpson won the 400 meters (51.01). Ray Lee was the runner-up in the 60 meters (6.92). He also finished fourth in the 200 meters (22.79). Donis Harris claimed second in the 3,000 meters (8:36.23).

The Bulldogs' Randall Kuch came in sixth in the 400 meters (52.77) and Noah Jones came in ninth in the 200 meters (23.57). Andrew Shafley placed 10th in the 800 meters (2:00.83).

Meanwhile, Dan Hardesty finished eighth in the mile (4:23.36) and Andrew Yaworski took 10th place in the mile (4:35.12). Noah Griffith wound up seventh in the 3,000 (8:50.55).

In the field events, Jake Zammitta was fourth in the shot put (45-3) and Forrest Akers placed fifth (44-9.75).

FSU also took third place in the 4x400-meter relay as the team of Simpson, Jones, Shafley and Kuch clocked 3:42.20.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs' Brianna Copley won the shot put (45-17.5) and Claudia Wilkinson was second in the high jump (5-1.25).

Danae Feldpausch placed second in the 800 meters (2:17.06). Madison Hammer was sixth in the 400 meters (1:04.22) and Makayla Roberts came in eighth (1:05.54). Katrina Droski finished sixth in the mile (5:33.52).

In the 3,000 meters, FSU's Hanna Brock was eighth (10:34.62) and Sydney Kubiak placed ninth (10:40.65). Emma Stephayn was ninth in the weight throw (45-6.25).

FSU also finished fifth in the women's 4x400-meter relay with the pairing of Roberts, Daisy England, Wilkinson and Feldpausch posting a time of 4:18.11 in the race.

The GLIAC Indoor Championships are set for Feb. 26-27 in Allendale.
